New York Wedding photographer Gulnara was born in Ufa, Bashkiria and moved to New York City in 1992 where she lives with her rescued cats Moosya and Zippy.
She graduated from the International Center of Photography and worked at the Associated Press for almost 9 years. She has received national and international awards for her iconic photographs from 9/11, including first prize in the most prestigious World Press Photo competition, nomination for the Pulitzer Prize by the AP, and was named Interphoto Photographer of the Year. She received multiple awards from Fearless Photographers, WPJA, ISPWP and WPPI for her wedding work.
Gulnara’s work is a part of major collections at the Museum of the City of New York, the New York Public Library, the New York Historical Society, the Newseum, the Akron Museum and Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Her photographs are part of the private collections of Elton John, Timothy Baum, Steven Kasher and Henry Buhl.
Gulnara travels extensively to do street photography or teaching. Gulnara is a speaker and a mentor at various conferences and workshops in Brazil, Russia, Netherlands, USA, Canada and Mexico. She is currently trying to learn Spanish (somewhat unsuccessfully!)
